And the 31st World Cultural Heritage Committee approved and included in the list has become extremely difficult due to many applications per country, and also from the standpoint of nature conservation and management since 1992, when Japan participated in the World Heritage Convention. This movement of registration for the world heritages began around 2000 through the efforts of the citizens of Nagasaki. It was not started by Nagasaki Prefecture. The department' collaboration of our university will be a great contribution to the community in corporation with citizens of Nagasaki. They have studied Churches and Christian Sites which are Kami-Goto Island and Shimo-Goto Island are suitable for a world heritage site. In case Churches and Christian Sites are registered, the prefecture will receive a great advantage of not only economic benefit but also culture and human relationship. However the World Heritage Convention is a treaty concerned about the protection but does not aim at receiving the practical benefit. Therefore we should take conservation of the above mentioned sites for benefit of humanity, not for the practical purpose.
